Early morning Japan walking tours, picnics & secret spots
Early morning walking tours and picnics are a service I have been providing to clients for over 15 years. It doesn’t really matter where you are in Japan, the early morning hours are unique and of special value in a number of ways. The air is fresh and silence and tranquility dominates the back lanes. There are only young children and elderly people or no one at all in neighborhoods and places away from large train or subway stations. Parks with history, like the Imperial Palace in Kyoto, are vast and tourist friendly if you behave with respect. Most large public 24/7 temple and shrine complexes are even more serene and many have large landscaped grounds to explore. And then there are hidden gems in all major cities that are just the best for a morning adventure stroll or a picnic moment in exceptional natural surroundings.
Japan early morning tours are especially suited to the chaos in Kyoto in April and November. In each of these super peak months, Kyoto receives about 12 million Japanese domestic tourists, more than 300,000 extra people per day! I have a short list of largely unknown places that are 1-5 kilometers from the center of Kyoto. All of these largely secret Kyoto gems are ideal for an early morning tour lasting for 2.5 to 4 hours from start to finish.

My early morning Japan tours come in two flavors: just strolling and exploration or picnic excursions. The strolling option is pretty straight forward: you jump in a taxi and take a short ride to a special area and then following the detailed walking instructions and stopping points of note en route (including historical points of interest). The picnic option begins, usually the evening before, with buying a few things for the picnic in the basement of Japanese department store or super market near your hotel. Then you go to a place set up for sitting outside in beautiful surroundings and have your picnic and then you still stroll a bit after that (should you wish to).
My early morning tours are priced at Yen 9,900/group. If you are more than 9 people add 5% for each extra person over 9. These stroll and picnic early morning tour options are available anywhere in Japan and can be designed for spiritual travelers, nature enthusiasts, and hikers.
